10 personnel of the Border Security Force (BSF) got killed as a plane crashed at Bagdola village in Dwarka, near the Delhi’s Indira Gandhi International airport, this morning at 9.50 am.
10 people on board included 3 BSF Officers and 7 Technicians, who were on their way to Ranchi to repair a helicopter.
Before the crash, the plane lost contact with the Ground Control unit and it crashed into a wall resulting in engulfing of huge flames. The plane lost control soon after it took off from the Bagdola air base. The bodies of all 10 were burnt.
Home Minister Rajnath Singh and Delhi Governor Najeeb Jung visited the crash site. Union Civil Aviation Minister Mahesh Sharma has ordered for a probe into the mishap. DG-level talks between India and Bangladesh to begin today in Dhaka were cancelled in the wake of the aircraft crash.
President Pranab Mukherjee said, “My thoughts and prayers are with the bereaved families.” Prime Minister Narendra Modi said, “My thoughts are with the families of the deceased.” Delhi Chief Minister Arvind Kejriwal said that the disaster was extremely unfortunate. He expressed his heartfelt sympathies to the families of the deceased.
