4 youths from Hyderabad and 6 from Bengaluru suspected to have links with ISIS have been arrested as part of the nation-wide crackdown by the National Investigation Agency (NIA) and local police.
The crackdown across various states came in the wake of intelligence alert about the possible terror attacks ahead of the Republic Day, January 26. The arrested youth were reported to have been under surveillance by the NIA for their alleged activities on social media. The suspects are being interrogated by NIA Team about their roles and links.
Three youths from Hyderabad were arrested last month at Nagpur airport when they were about to board Srinagar flight. Few IS sympathizers and a recruiting agent was nabbed last year while they were planning to fly to Syria to join IS. Police also counseled over a dozen youth last year as they were found to be browsing IS material over the internet.
