The Hindi remake rights of ace director Rajamouli’s epic Film ‘Magadheera’, which was released in 2009, were acquired way back but the project has not yet materialized.
Makers tried to rope in Rajamouli to direct the Hindi version also but he showed little interest in directing the remakes of his Telugu films. Various directors and actors were considered and finally we have the names here.
The Hindi version of Rajamouli’s “Magadheera” will now be a much bigger project as acclaimed director Sanjay Leela Bhansali, who has recently won the National Film Award for ‘Bajirao Mastani’, has been selected to direct the film about reincarnation and revenge.
The producers think that no director but Sanjay Leela Bhansali, whose forte is the lavish epics, could do justice to the grand scale of Magadheera. Makers have allotted approximately Rs 120 crore Budget to Bhansali.
After Hrithik Roshan rejected the offer, Shahid Kapoor has come on board to play the warrior in the reincarnation film.
