The laddu of Sri Virat Venkateswara Swamy in Sangareddy, Medak district, has set a new record in twin Telugu states as it was sold for Rs 77,77,777 at the auction. For the 25 kgs Balaji laddu, the base price set by the Temple committee during the auction was just Rs 7,777.
However, the madness and the money minted from the taxes imposed on hard working public, is making politicians to went to the extent of spending Rs 77 lakh for a Rs 7 thousand worth laddu. Former Deputy Chief Minister Damodhar Rajanarasimha’s wife Padmini offered this Rs 77 lakh to bag the auspicious laddu.
Many wonder if this is really devotion or madness? If someone has so much money, why don’t they help poor and needy?
