Has anyone ever heard of an Indian Film director going to the extent of paying back Rs 90 Crore to a film studio? Well, we present you the critically acclaimed Anurag Kashyap.
Anurag Kashyap has agreed to refund this amount that no director would even think of doing in his dreams. Along with his business partners (Madhu Mantena, Vikramaditya Motwane and Vikad Bahl of ‘Phantom Films’ production house), Anurag promised to refund the Rs 90 crore losses incurred by Fox Star Studios by producing his period flick ‘Bombay Velvet’, which turned out to be a colossal flop at the Box Office.
The film starring Ranbir Kapoor, Anushka Sharma and Karan Jhar is ranked as one of the biggest disasters in the history of Indian cinema. Fox Star Studios lost as much as Rs 90 Crore on the project. Now, Anurag convinced his partners for compensating the total loss. Phantom Films has already paid Rs 10 crore to Fox Star Studios as first installment.
The production house has issued an official statement saying that the balance amount will be settled in multiple installments by the end of 2016.
