Women’s World No.1 Doubles pair of Sania Mirza and Martina Hingis has created a new record by winning their 25th match in a row.
Beating Andreja Klepac and Alla Kudryavtseva 6-3, 7-5 at the ongoing Brisbane International, the No 1 pair moved into the finals comfortably and is poised for another title to their already hefty tally.
Hingis and Mirza’s 25-match winning streak, which includes 5 titles in a row starting from the US Open, Guangzhou, Wuhan, Beijing and the Women’s Tennis Association (WTA) Finals, is officially the longest winning streak since Sara Errani and Roberta Vinci’s 25 matches winning streak in 2012.
However, the pair is still lagging behind the doubles team of Gigi Fernandez and Natasha Zvereva, which won 28 matches in a row way back in 1994.
Mirza-Hingis pair won 9 titles in total last year including the Wimbledon and the US Open, thus ending the season as the top ranked team in the world.
