Prime Minister Narendra Modi on Thursday called veteran Movie director K. Viswanath as an “outstanding filmmaker” and praised him for winning the Dadasaheb Phalke Award, India’s highest award in cinema.
“K. Viswanath has distinguished himself as an outstanding filmmaker. I congratulate him on being conferred the Dadasaheb Phalke award,” PM said in a tweet.
PM also congratulated all those who got the National Film Awards on Wednesday. “We are proud of their creativity and contribution to cinema.”
K. Viswanath received Dadasaheb Phalke award at the Vigyan Bhavan in Delhi from President Pranab Mukherjee.
Vishwanath has directed 50 films, recognized for their solid content, appealing story, authentic treatment and cultural legitimacy.
