Chris Gayle hits first World Cup double century

Chris Gayle, the 35 year old West-Indies left-hander scored 215 runs and turned into the first batsman in World cup history to score a double century, surpassing the past Best of 188 by Gary Kirsten against the UAE in 1996.

Gayle completed with 16 sixes, the most in a World Cup match along with 10 boundaries and took on at a mind blowing strike-rate of 146.25.

Gayle’s double century came off 138 balls, making him the Fastest Batsman to get to the mark, bettering the 140 balls taken by Virender Sehwag in 2011.
