Brendon McCullum came to the crease when New Zealand was in deep trouble at 32 for the loss of 3 wickets. He showed his aggression from the very first ball and went on to smash a century in just 54 balls. His innings ended after he made 145 runs from just 79 balls with the help of 21 fours and 6 sixes.

After the heroics of McCullum, New Zealand posted a total of 370. In reply, Australia lost 1 wicket and scored 57 runs by the end of first Day of the second and last test match of the series.
