Mumbai police arrested Bhojpuri Filmmaker Shayam Charan Yadav for allegedly raping a Pakistani actress.
The unidentified actress lodged a police complaint alleging that Yadav had raped, cheated and threatened her. The actress in her statement said that Yadav had raped her on several occasions in the past and she was forced into it every time.
After arresting Yadav at his residence, the police booked cases against him under sections 376 (rape), 417 and 420 (cheating), 504 (intentional insult with intent to provoke breach of the Peace), 506 (criminal intimidation) and 34 (common intention) of the Indian Penal Code.
According to the complainant, she came in touch with the accused in 2012 when she visited Mumbai for the first time to attend a promotional event of a film. The duo immediately became friends and maintained acquaintance ever since. Later, Yadav made a small-Budget film and the complainant acted in it.
Next, Yadav allegedly lured her to make a film and borrowed Rs 35.80 lakh from her but the film was never made. The complainant claimed that after she realized of Yadav’s cheating, she started him to pay her money back. Yadava initially avoided her but a period of time he allegedly took the help of Bablu Rai and Tiger to threaten her.
The police are now probing the allegations of rape. The actress was sent for a medical test.
