$40,000 “Toilet” of Princess Turned “Tourist Office”

A custom-built luxury toilet with $40,000 for Thai Princess Maha Chakri Sirindhorn at Yeak Lom Lake in north-east Cambodia was finally left unused.

Princess Maha Chakri Sirindhorn just took photos of the toilet’s building during her visit to Yeak Lom Lake, Cambodia. After her departure, the toilet has been removed and the hut has been given to the community to use it as a tourist office.

This incident took place in Cambodia, where less than 40% of people in rural areas use toilets.

Housed in an air-conditioned hut, the toilet was built for the two-hour visit of the princess to the north-eastern lake on 22nd Feb.The toilet’s construction was carried out by a Thai construction giant partly owned by a firm that manages the Thai royal family’s assets and Investments.

Thai Engineers constructed the commode using the material brought from Thailand. It took two weeks for them to build the luxury toilet.
