Ray Tomlinson, the man who is credited with the invention of e-mail, has passed away. According to reports, the 74 year old internet pioneer died of a Heart Attack.
Tomlinson came up with the idea of electronic messages that could be sent from one network to another in 1971. The US computer programmer’s invention included the use of the “@” symbol in e-mail addresses.
He sent the first e-mail ever while working an engineer. His work was recognized in 2012, when he was inducted into the Internet Hall of Fame.
