Two members of a gang, including a doctor have been arrested by police for allegedly sedating youngsters and drawing out their blood in Uttar Pradesh’s Basti.
The police had laid out a trap based on a tip-off and caught the criminals when they were extracting blood from a child after luring him into a hospital by offering him a candy.
Identifying the suspect as Akash (33) and Dr Prabhakar Singh (40), police said more associates of the criminal group recognised as the ‘Khoon Chuswa gang’ by locals will be arrested as soon as possible.
Criminal cases were lodged against the two under sections 328 (causing hurt by means of poison) and 420 (cheating) of the Indian Penal Code.
According to reports, the gang would sell the blood to the hospitals located in the area.
According to complainant, “the gang fooled many youngsters in this manner. Nobody approached the police as they were all paid Rs 500 after the procedure.”
