In an effort to dispose the e-waste created due to heavy floods, the Government of Kerala has ordered all the officials from all the districts to set up waste collection points.
A government body, Clean Kerala Company, will collect all the waste and send it to a Hyderabad-based recycling firm.
Under the Initiative launched in Ernakulam district, about 28 tonnes of non-biodegradable materials have been collected to date.
It was the worst flooding in Kerala in nearly a century. Over 445 people died, 15 are missing within a fortnight, while at least a million people were evacuated, mainly from Chengannur, Pandanad, Aranmula, Aluva, Chalakudy, Kuttanad and Pandalam.
All 14 districts of the state were placed on red alert.
