President’s Rule has been imposed in Uttarakhand, just days after 9 Congress MLAs rebelled against Chief Minister Harish Rawat.
The cabinet recommended the central rule after an hour-long meeting chaired by Prime Minister Narendra Modi. President Pranab Mukherjee then approved the cabinet’s decision to impose President Rule in Uttarakhand.
The Uttarakhand Assembly has been placed under suspended animation just a day ahead of the ruling party was about to go for trust vote.
The Congress high command called the President’s Rule decision as murder of democracy. “Neither the ruling of the speaker nor vote on house floor has occurred. Yet President’s Rule pre-emptively imposed,” Congress spokesperson Abhishek Singhvi tweeted.

Following this, Centre has imposed the President’s Rule in Uttarakhand. It may be noted that President’s Rule was imposed in Arunachal Pradesh just few weeks ago.
