Tollywood superstar Mahesh Babu’s bank accounts were attached by the department of Goods and Services Tax (GST) in a Tax Evasion case.

The GST department has attached the bank accounts of Mahesh Babu to recover the dues of service tax.

According to a press note released by the Hyderabad GST Commissionerate, Mr. Babu has failed to pay the service tax during 2007-08 for the taxable services he rendered as brand ambassador for several products and companies.

The total tax due from Mahesh Babu was Rs. 18.5 lakhs, the GST department said in recently released press note.

It also said, the GST department has attached his bank accounts in Axis Bank and ICICI Bank for an amount of Rs. 73.5 lakhs which includes Tax, Interest and Penalty.
