Boeing not grounded, new rules; DGCA after Ethiopia crash

Tightening their norms Boeing not grounded, new rules; DGCA after Ethiopia crash post-tragedy, Directorate General of Civil Aviation or DGCA yesterday decided against grounding of Boeing 737 MAX 8 planes.

This decision came after the fatal crash of a Boeing 737 MAX aircraft in Ethiopia that killed 157 people.

India’s aviation regulatory body also ordered additional maintenance checks for the planes operating in the country and said a review found “no significant concern” related to the model.

Instead, it has mandated 1,000 hours and 500 hours of flying experience must apply for pilot and co-pilots.


This decision came after the fatal crash of a Boeing 737 MAX aircraft in Ethiopia that killed 157 people. Interestingly, this statement went on the same day when Ethiopia, China, and Indonesia announced grounding of the plane.
