The legality of this type of manipulation varies across jurisdictions. Deliberate manipulation of election outcomes is widely considered a violation of the principles of democracy.
Why People fail to recognise the facts behind this sort of manipulations?
The elected MLA’s in India only get approximately Rs 1.25 lacs per month as salary. There are about 4120 MLAs across the country and the salary varies from state to state.
The highest salary Rs. 2.5 lacs per month is given to MLAs of Telangana state while the lowest salary Rs.34000 is given to the MLAs of the Tripura Assembly.
It is Rs. 1.3 lacs for each MLA in Andhra Pradesh.
If this is the case, how Political Leaders are able to bear spend so much money for the elections?
