Geeta, the deaf and mute Indian girl, who accidentally crossed the border and got stranded in the neighboring Pakistan for around 15 years, has returned to India this morning. She landed at Indira Gandhi International Airport in New Delhi.
5 Members of Edhi Foundation, which took care of Geeta all these years in Pakistan, accompanied her. Pakistan High Commissioner Abdul Basit will host a reception for Geeta and the members of Edhi Foundation Today evening.
The girl will be handed over to her parents only after carrying out DNA Tests by the Indian Government, to verify the facts.
Although, she has been stranded in Pakistan for around 15 years, her story came into limelight only after the release of Salman Khan’s latest blockbuster ‘Bajrangi Bhaijaan’.
The Film also deals with similar subject so her story got highlighted. Conversing with media, Geetha thanked the Indian government and especially Salman Khan for giving her identity back to her.
