We have already reported that Geeta, the deaf-mute Indian girl, who had been stranded in Pakistan for almost 15 years, was brought back to India on 26th October.
Pakistan’s non-profit Edhi Foundation established and headed by humanitarian Abdul Sattar Edhi took care of Geeta for the time period she was in Pakistan and played crucial role in sending her back to India.
After Geeta’s return to India, Prime Minister Narendra Modi had announced Rs 1 Crore donation to Edhi Foundation as a token of gesture from Indian Government. However, Abdul Sattar Edhi politely declined to accept the donation of Modi.
While addressing a press conference, Abdul Satthar Edhi’s Son Faisal Edhi said that Edhi Foundation have a policy of not accepting donation from any Government including Pakistan Government.
Faisal requested the Indian government to use that Rs 1 Crore for the welfare of hearing and speech impaired Children in India.
A kind and noble gesture indeed from the Edhi Foundation.
