Raising minister Niranjan Jyothi controversial comments, Prime Minister Narendra Modi Friday appealed to opposition members in Lok Sabha to be magnanimous and acknowledge her statement of regret.
An united Opposition stalled proceedings in both houses for the fourth day in succession demanding that minister Niranjan Jyoti should be sacked over her comments.
Conceding to Opposition demands, Modi made a statement in Lok Sabha asking members to acknowledge Jyoti’s expression of regret and let Parliament function to the interests of the country.
Modi also said, the minister has apologized, she is new and we are additionally mindful of her social background. She comes from a village.
