Since few days, the opposition parties of Telangaana have been alleging about the unethical deletion of lakhs of votes from the voters list under the GHMC limits. Now, the election commission of India has taken the issue very seriously and jumped into action.
The opposition parties have been alleging that the ruling TRS party had set an agenda of deletion of lakhs of names from the voters list with the fear of defeat in the yet to be announced GHMC polls.
Opposition also alleged that several GHMC officials are working in favor of TRS in this heinous process. EC has received any complaints against Chief Electoral Officer Bhanwar Lal and Commissioner of GHMC Somesh Kumar over deletion of names of nearly 7 lakh voters and for issuing notices to another 19 lakh voters for deletion of names.
The Election Commission of India has deployed a 14 member team to look into the issue. The 14-member team has split into different groups and began preliminary questioning in the Assembly constituencies that fall under GHMC limits.
If the allegations made by opposition prove to be true, several big officials in GHMC would be axed by Election Commission.
