Today, a special doodle is visible on the homepage of Internet search engine Google. Google+ dedicated this doodle to noted mathematician George Boole to mark his 200th birth anniversary.
An acclaimed English mathematician George Boole, was also a logician and philosopher. His legacy of Boolean logic is credited with laying the foundation for the new age Information Technology.
He worked in the fields of differential equations and algebra. He is Best known as the author of The Laws of Thought of Boolean algebra. In fact, the ‘Boolean’ word is given as a token of respect for him, by taking the word from his name, ’Boole’.
As per reports from international media, Boole died of pneumonia in 1864, at the age of 49, after he walked two miles through cold rain and giving a lecture wearing wet clothes.
This genius of mathematics rightly deserves a doodle on this day.
