Consumers will soon be able to choose the choice of selecting their energy supply organization as government planning to bring necessary amendments to the Electricity Act, 2003.
“Reforms were being planned for the distribution Sector and provision allowing the end-user to pick its conveyance organization.” Piyush Goyal (Minister for Power) said at a CII event.
“The government would permit competition without raising duty or compromising on better customer service.” Mr. Goyal said.
“There were a few hurdles under the Electricity Act of 2003 and we are trying to resolve those hurdles the current amendment.” He said.
