After One and half year of ban, ABN to Telecast in Telangana

After nearly one and half year of ban, popular news channel, ABN, will soon be telecast in Telangana. The Supreme Court has directed the Telangana government to immediately resume the telecast of ABN TV channel in the state.

It may be noted that cable operators across Telangana have barred TV9 and ABN TV channels for allegedly telecasting degrading programs against Telangana legislators. The two channels went for a legal battle to resume broadcast in the state.

The Telecom Disputes Settlement and Appellate Tribunal (TDSAT) instructed the MSOs (Multiple system operators) on October 29, 2014 to resume the broadcast of TV9. However, ABN didn’t get green signal so the channel moved to the Supreme Court of India.

A three-member Supreme Court judge gave verdict that TDSAT verdict on TV 9 plea would be applicable for ABN also. The Supreme Court has also instructed the TS government to immediately resume broadcast of ABN channel in the state.

This decision was welcomed by media and ABN channel.
