As per latest reports, Andhra Pradesh Panchayat Raj Minister Ayyanna Pathrudu has received a death threat from Maoists demanding him to resign from Cabinet or force the government to withdraw the permission for bauxite mining in Narasipatnam and others Agency areas.
Ayyanna Patrudu, who represents Narsipatnam Assembly constituency in Visakhapatnam district, has reportedly called Chief Minister Nara Chadrababu Naidu over phone and notified about the life threat.
He has also met Chief Secretary of AP, IYR Krishna Rao to inform him about the increasing pressure from locals to withdraw bauxite mining in Agency areas.
Couple of days ago, AP government had issued permission for bauxite mining in agency areas in Visakhapatnam despite the tribal people were strongly opposing.
The tribal people even organized a bandh in the region in protest against bauxite mining but the AP govt was not in the mood to consider their pleas.
Ayyanna Pathrudu announced that the government would not go against the interests of the local people and a decision will soon be taken in cabinet meeting.
