Talking during a hepatitis B media awareness campaign, Bollywood Megastar Amitabh Bachhan has stated he turned out to be a severe affected person of hepatitis B and had nearly lost 75 % of his liver as a consequence of delayed proper diagnosis of the disease.
Amitabh said during the shooting of his Film Coolie he had met with an injury, for which about Two hundred people had donated blood. One of the donors was a carrier of hepatitis B which means that he too suffered from the disease. “By the period it was diagnosed, only one fourth of my liver was left,” said Amitabh.
In spite of this, he was quoted saying that even though he was fortunate enough to receive the right treatment and get healed in time, there were many in the country who didn’t have the resources to even get diagnosed.
On the event, he also said he would be delighted to meet up with the field workers who work at the ground level with regard to bringing up public awareness in the remote regions of the nation.
