In a fresh blow to Telugu Desam Party (TDP) in Telangana, Secunderabad Cantonment MLA Sayanna, a senior leader, has officially joined Telangana Rashtra Samiti (TRS).
In the past, Four TDP MLAs from Hyderabad migrated to TRS. After Talasani Srinivas Yadav, Teegala Krishna Reddy, Manchireddy Kishan Reddy and Madhavaram Krishna Rao, Sayanna is the 5th TDP MLA to defect to TRS.
TS Irrigation Minister Harish Rao is believed to have engineered this defection as part of ‘Operation Akarshan’. The K Chandrasekhara Rao led TRS is strengthening itself in Hyderabad in view of the upcoming MLC elections.
Senior Telangana Telugu Desam Party leader Errabelli Dayakar Rao said that the defection of Sayanna to TRS is not a big loss to his party. However, he expressed his anger at Sayanna for leaving the party despite being a senior leader.
Speaking to media after Sayanna left the party Errabelli Dayakar Rao said that TDP is the party of people but not leaders. Whatever number of leaders may leave TDP workers remain the strength of the party.
