Former RJD MP Mohd Shahabuddin has been sentenced for life imprisonment in a 2004 case on abduction and acid murder charges.
Going into details, Shahabuddin and three others were found guilty by a special court for the murder of two persons in 2004 in Siwan district of Bihar.
Reportedly, on August 16, 2004, Shahabuddin and his men kidnapped Girish Raj and Satish Raj, the sons of wealthy businessman Chandrashekhar Prasad, from their house and killed them after drenching them in acid. While pronouncing the judgment, the judge termed it as a horrific crime and the rarest of the rare case.
Shahabuddin was four times elected as Member of Parliament from Siwan on the ticket of Rashtriya Janata Dal (RJD), headed by Lalu Prasad Yadav. He was also a 2-time MLA. Shahabuddin has been in jail for many years in connection with several dreaded criminal cases. He was not allowed to contest in the 2009 General Elections because of his conviction.
