Bollywood khiladi Akshay Kumar feels that the story of his upcoming Film ‘Airlift’ must be included in textbooks so that people could know that the world’s largest evacuation mission was carried out by India in 1990 itself.
‘Airlift’ is based on the massive evacuation of Indian citizens from Kuwait when Iraq invaded it in 1990. The World’s Largest evacuation mission continued for almost 60 days and it is the most successful evacuation mission till date.
India evacuated around 170,000 Indians back to the homeland in 1990. Air India entered the Guinness Book of World records for successfully conducting the largest evacuation mission ever done by any civilian airline.
The story is being made as a film now and Akshay Kumar is playing the lead role of Ranjit Katyal, who headed that mission. Nimrat Kaur is playing a key role.
