Delhi High Court has today issued notices to Delhi Chief Minister Arvind Kejriwal and 5 other AAP leaders regarding a defamation suit filed by Union Finance Minister Arun Jaitley.
Jaitley sought Rs 10 crore in damages from the AAP leaders following their statements against him on alleged Delhi and District Cricket Association irregularities. Responding to the defamation suit filed by Jaitley, the Delhi High court sent notices and sought replies from Kumar Vishwas, Raghav Chadha, Ashutosh, Sanjay Singh, Deepak Bajpai and Arvind Kejriwal.
Earlier, speaking about the irregularities in DDCA, which was headed by Jaitley for 13 years till 2013, Kejriwal alleged that Jaitley must be removed from his Ministry to enable free and fair probe. These comments didn’t go well with the Union Minister and he quickly filed a defamation suit.
Jaitley also filed a criminal defamation case in Patiala House court, alleging that the statements of the above mentioned AAP leaders caused irreversible damage to his reputation.
