The Union Tourism & Culture Ministry allotted just Rs 28 Crore for the development of Tourism in Amaravati, the new capital of Andhra Pradesh. Many are joking that Centre gave peanut amount to develop the tourism in entire state.
Although the AP MPs raised questions, the Tourism and Culture ministry made it clear that Amaravati won’t get more than the given amount for this year. Now, what can AP State Government could do with just Rs 28 Crore. To attract Tourists, preserve the culture and heritage in the capital city, state govt. needs large amount but the Centre showed empty hand to the state which already is in neck-deep financial crisis.
For any state, the tourism is a major revenue generation source and given that already the truncated state has lost its capital, Centre should have considered AP as special case but they didn’t. While CM Chandrababu Naidu’s vision is to develop a world-class capital and tourist hub, the mere 28 Crore funds are evoking laughs from people and opposition.
It’s high time for Chandrababu Naidu and Venkaiah Naidu to take things seriously.
