Rajiv Gandhi International Airport (RGIA) of Hyderabad has become the First Ever airport to have E-boarding facility.
Union Civil Aviation Minister Ashok Gajapathi Raju has launched e-boarding facility at RGIA Hyderabad. The GMR Group-run International airport has become the first ever airport in the country to have the facility of e-boarding.
This E-boarding facility allows a passenger to check in electronically without the normal paper boarding passes. It eliminates all the manual processes involved at the airport including check-in, security check, boarding gate check and the final boarding bridge check. With this facility, a passenger flying from the airport just needs a mobile e-boarding card and Aadhaar card to gain entry into the airport and flight.
The E-boarding pilot project was launched in April this year in Hyderabad and Bengaluru airports. The Union Minister said that the e-boarding facility would be introduced at all airports in the country in a phased manner to provide much convenience to the flyers.
