The three accused in the suicide case of Acharya Nagarjuna University student Rishiteswari, have finally got bail after being in the prison for 77 days.
1st Additional District Session Court granted bail to the accused after hearing the arguments of their lawyers. The court has rejected their bail petition few times in the past.
Acharya Nagarjuna University students Hanisha, Jayacharan and Narala Srinivas were named as accused in the FIR by police. Senior Student Hanisha was named as A1 accused, Jayacharan as A2 and Srinivas as A3. However, they pleaded innocence in the court proceedings.
The report submitted by the Committee appointed by State Government stated that ragging took place with the encouragement of the University Principal Babu Rao. This led to the suicide of Rishiteswari so he must be inducted as one of the accused in the case, recommended the committee.
Despite many protests, the principal still walks free, guilt-free.
