Andhra Pradesh’s first commercial court has started functioning in Visakhapatnam.

The Andhra Pradesh as part of ‘Ease of Doing business’ has been sanctioned two commercial courts; one for Visakhapatnam, one more for Vijayawada.

The Visakhapatnam’s commercial court has already started functioning.

The commercial court in Visakhapatnam covers districts including East Godavari, Srikakulam, Vizianagaram and Visakhapatnam.

How Does Commercial Court work?

  • The court primarily deals with cases of financial transactions above Rs 1 crore.
  • The court will ensure prompt clearance of cases in a time-bound manner.
  • The cases linking to financial disputes filed in civil courts, are now being transferred to the special court.

The New Indian Express reports, the court will soon become paperless as the entire process of filing of cases will be made online.

From now, advocates and individuals can file cases from their home through e-filing.

This is the first court to have such facility in the State of Andhra Pradesh.
