Another law maker of the opposition YSR Congress Party has been arrested by the police of Andhra Pradesh.
Gopireddy Srinivas Reddy, the MLA representing Narasaraopet Constituency in Guntur district, has been arrested early this morning for demonstrating in front of the MRO office of Rompicherla. A case was booked against Gopireddy for obstructing the official in duty by staging a protest on January 11, along with Farmers of Ramireddyapali village.
This is the second arrest involving opposition YSRCP leaders in the past one week. Rajampet MP Peddireddy Mithun Reddy was the first legislator to get arrested for allegedly manhandling the manager of Tirupati airport around a month ago. The MP was taken into custody from Chennai airport in the early hours of yesterday, on 17th Jan.
Reacting on the arrests, firebrand YCP MLA Roja criticized the TDP government and Chief Minister Chandrababu for booking cases against opposition party leaders on silly charges. She alleged that Naidu was scared of YCP’s campaign against the failures of TDP.
