‘AP Govt. can’t Use Students’ Money for Amaravati’

After the success of schemes like Mana Neeru Mana Matti, My Capital, My Amaravati etc, which saw huge participation of the citizens of Andhra Pradesh, the State Government wanted to involve students to raise money for the capital city construction.

The AP government decided to involve around 70 lakh school students of the state in the capital city construction by urging them to contribute Rs.10 each through My Capital, My Amaravati, My Brick Initiative, for the capital city construction. A circular was also issued by the Commissioner of School Education, AP, in this regard.

However, a petition was soon filed in the High Court by an YSRCP member against the decision of the government seeking money from students. After the hearing, the High Court’s judge slammed the AP government and warned it not to forcibly collect donations from students.

The Chandrababu Naidu led AP state government has been trying to involve people of the state in the ambitious mission of constructing Amaravati but it seems that YCP members are not in the mood to let it happen.
