A local BJP leader S N Channabasappa (54), from Karnataka’s Shivamogga district, was arrested for threatening to behead Chief Minister Siddaramaiah if he dares to eat beef.
Last week, the Karnataka CM said that nobody could stop him from eating beef, if he really wanted to. ‘I would eat pork too if I want’, added the CM. His comment was aimed at some Hindu groups who are campaigning against cow slaughter.
“How dare you lay hands on the neck of Gomata? If you have the guts, you come to y place and eat beef. There is no doubt that on that day itself, you will be beheaded. Don’t play with the emotions of Hindus?” warned Channabasappa against the CM during the protest rally organized by the local party against CM’s comments.
Reacting to the comments, Shivamogga district Congress President Prasanna Kumar filed a complaint with the police against Channabasappa for threatening the Chief Minister and subsequently he was arrested.
