Tightening their norms Boeing not grounded, new rules; DGCA after Ethiopia crash post-tragedy, Directorate General of Civil Aviation or DGCA yesterday decided against grounding of Boeing 737 MAX 8 planes. Instead, it has mandated 1,000 hours and 500 hours of flying experience must apply for pilot and co-pilots.
This decision came after the fatal crash of a Boeing 737 MAX aircraft in Ethiopia that killed 157 people. Interestingly, this statement went on the same day when Ethiopia, China, and Indonesia announced grounding of the plane.

India’s aviation regulatory body also ordered additional maintenance checks for the planes operating in the country and said a review found “no significant concern” related to the model.
