A revolutionary decision was taken at the recent Cabinet meeting held in Vijayawada by the ruling party of Andhra Pradesh. Kapu community is included in Backward Classes (BCs).
The AP government would soon appoint a commission of Backward Classes to ensure that the inclusion of Kapu community in BC category would not adversely affect the prospects and opportunities of the already existing BC communities.
TDP President and Chief Minister Chandrababu Naidu successfully wooed back the Kapu community in favor of TDP during 2014 General Assembly elections by promising them BC status. Apart from that, he allocated Deputy Chief Minister post to Kapu community leader Nimmakayala Chinarajappa.
Besides this, the TDP government would also set up a corporation and allocate Rs 100 crore for development of Kapu community. Not satisfied with this, Various Kapu organizations demand the government to allocate Rs 1,000 crore for the corporation.
It is well known that Kapu community has been demanding for BC status for the past several decades.
It has to be seen what sort of reaction would the government receives from the existing BC communities.
