Two years after the death of Bollywood actress Jiah Khan, chilling details about her abortion have been revealed by the CBI in a fresh chargesheet.
The chargesheet was filed two weeks after sessions court enquired the CBI about the status of the investigation. It may be noted that in 2014, Bombay High Court had transferred the case to the CBI to investigate whether Jiah’s death was suicide or homicide.
The CBI’s chargesheet revealed that Jiah was four weeks pregnant and when she had informed Sooraj about it, Sooraj forced her to approach a physician, who prescribed some Medicines for medical termination of pregnancy (MTP). When the medicines didn’t work, the duo later went to a gynaecologist, who prescribed them more effective medicine.
“After taking the medicine, Khan started haemorrhaging and called Pancholi for help. She was in pain and needed immediate medical attention but Pancholi allegedly asked her to wait and called up the gynaecologist for guidance. He was asked to rush Khan to hospital as the foetus had probably aborted but had not been expelled from the body, which is probably what led to the haemorrhaging,” the charge sheet reported.
“Sooraj Pancholi was afraid that if Khan got hospitalised, their relationship would become public knowledge and his career could grind to a halt even before taking off. Sooraj then decided to take matters in his own hand rather than risk going to a hospital. He extricated the foetus and disposed of it in the toilet,” the chargesheet added.
Sooraj started avoiding Jiah after this incident, which made her emotionally weak. Mounting Depression finally drove her to commit suicide, mentioned the chargesheet.
“The wilful conduct of the accused narrated in the note written by the deceased, her intimate relationship, the physical abuse, the mental and physical torture which she experienced, allegedly led the deceased to commit suicide,” the chargesheet concluded.
