China on Friday voiced resistance to any nation receiving the Dalai Lama and interfering in China’s inside issues.
Foreign Ministry spokesman Hong Lei said at daily press meeting, “the Dalai Lama is looking for outside backing to realize his political aspiration, which would never succeed.”
“The Dalai Lama is a political exile who has been occupied with secessionist exercises under the cloak of religion,” Hong added.
The Nobel Peace Prize recipient was a guest at the National Prayer Breakfast in Washington, the first time the President and the Tibetan Buddhist leader attended the same public event.
