Cognizant Announced $40 million Aid for Chennai Flood Relief

Tech giant Cognizant, which has its headquarters in US, is well known in India for its major Operations out of Chennai, the capital city of Tamil Nadu, which was devastated by the recent floods.

Cognizant, responding to the natural calamity, has announced $40 million aid for flood relief to its employees and business partners. $10 million contribution towards flood relief steps, directly to Tamil Nadu Chief Minister’s Public Relief Fund and the remaining $30 million will be provided as loans, grants and Healthcare assistance.

As per a statement released by the company, it will take a multi-pronged approach towards relief and long-term rehabilitation measures in the city. The company also said that it plans to sponsor additional Initiatives through Cognizant Foundation, the spearhead of the company’s corporate social responsibility initiatives and Cognizant Outreach, the company’s grassroots volunteering programme led by employees.

Cognizant has over 60,000 employees and 11 facilities in Chennai.
