“Compared to a decade ago, the rate of poverty reduction in many countries has fallen. This is because trade has fallen and trade has fallen because growth has fallen. Trade and services can be a major compensation for this deceleration in world growth and trade. And it will have a direct impact on poverty reduction.” said Junaid Ahmad, World Bank India Country Director at the 2 day Trade Facilitation in Services workshop in New Delhi, India.
At a time when world trade is slowing down this workshop suggested a way forward for a constructive dialogue among World Trade Organization – WTO members.
