Jawahar Chavda was sworn in as a Cabinet Minister in the State Government on Saturday, a day after he gave his resignation as an MLA and joined the BJP.
Yogesh Patel and Dharmendrasinh Jadeja were also sworn in as Ministers of State.
Mr. Chavda is a prominent face for the Congress in Junagadh district. He had been elected to the Assembly four times since 1990. He will now contest the by poll to get re-elected as a legislator.

Yogesh Patel and Dharmendrasinh Jadeja were also sworn in as Ministers of State. All three leaders took the oath of office and secrecy by Governor O.P. Kohli at the Raj Bhavan in Gandhinagar.

In 2017, the BJP had lost heavily in the district. He is interested in business especially mining and education. He is also running several educational institutions and operating limestone quarries in Junagadh district.
