Crane Collapse at Mecca, 107 Hajj Pilgrims killed

In a tragic incident, at least 107 people died and more than 200 were injured when a crane collapsed at the Grand Mosque in the holy city of Mecca, Saudi Arabia.

The head of Saudi Arabia’s civil defence said that strong winds had caused the collapse of the huge crane at the Grand Mosque, the largest Mosque in the world, which was filled with worshippers at that time. 9 Indians were also present among the dead.

Mecca is currently preparing for the annual holy Muslim Hajj pilgrimage. 2 millions devotees are expected to arrive in the city from all over the world. Many of them have already arrived and the remaining will reach the city by 21st of this month.

A Video posted on YouTube appeared to record the moment the crane fell on the mosque, a loud crash heard in the background followed by shouting and panic. Images circulating on social media sites show numerous bodies and blood everywhere.
