YSR Congress Party Nagari MLA Roja has been suspended from Andhra Pradesh Legislative Assembly for 1 year. Speaker Kodela Siva Prasad has confirmed her suspension following her severe remarks against Chief Minister and TDP chief Chandrababu Naidu.
This is considered as a highest-term an MLA got suspended in the recent times. Roja is said to have made several derogatory comments and used unParliamentary language against Chandrababu in the floor of the house. Her comments have been removed from the AP Assembly records.
The Call Money racket issue has today dominated the proceedings of the Assembly. The day began with the speaker suspending all the YSRCP MLAs till the discussion on Ambedkar was finished. After the house reassembled, Chandrababu Naidu started making a statement on the Call Money issue.
Roja made many serious allegations against Chandrababu when he was making the statement. At one point, an irritated Chandrababu Naidu questioned, ‘Is she a lady at all?’, angered by the way she was making allegations.
TDP members sought Roja’s suspension with Finance, Legislative Affairs’ Minister Yanamala Ramakrishnudu moving a petition against Roja to suspend her. Then, Speaker Kodela suspended Roja for 1 year.
Roja, a former member of TDP, joined YSRCP in 2014 and won the election just with a slight margin from Nagiri constituency in Chittoor district.
