The odd-even campaign in New Delhi to curb traffic and battle air pollution has come to an end on 15th Jan.
Chief Minister Arvind Kejriwal said that the campaign has been a success. Although the unique January 1-15 campaign ended amid conflicting claims, Kejriwal claimed that pollution levels dropped in the city in the 15 days and urged Delhi people to continue it voluntarily if they can.
Delhi’s clogged roads have also become easier to navigate after odd-even campaign, which was introduce in the first place to curb the one third of the cars in the total 90 lakh registered vehicles in the city.
Many took Delhi Metro as mode of transportation and found it as a modem to save money and time. Kejriwal thanked Delhi High Court, the Supreme Court and Delhi Police, who pooled cars to follow the odd-even scheme.
The odd-even campaign was applied on all days except Sundays, from 8 a.m. to 8 p.m. VIPs, Women drivers, emergency services etc. were exempted from this scheme.
