YSR Congress party led Andhra Pradesh government on 20th January passed the “Andhra Pradesh Decentralisation and Inclusive Development of All Regions Bill, 2020”.
The Andhra Pradesh state Assembly passes the AP Decentralisation and Inclusive Development of All Regions Bill for establishment of Legislative Capital at Amaravati, Executive Capital at Visakhapatnam and Judicial Capital at Kurnool.
Talking about the bill, YSR Congress chief and Andhra Pradesh Chief Minister YS Jagan Mohan Reddy in State Assembly said, “I have no grudge against Amaravati. We are continuing with Amaravati as the legislative capital, Visakhapatnam will be the executive capital, and Kurnool will be the judicial capital.”
Mr. Reddy also said that “Andhra Pradesh State needs development and welfare programmes. It is not possible to spend lakhs and crores of rupees on capital alone. We won 151 assembly seats with support of all castes, all are equal for me. I want development of all regions.”
Reacting to the bill, the Telugu Desam Party national President and opposition leader N. Chandrababu Naidu said, “nowhere in the world for one state there are 3 capitals. Today is a black day, we wanted to save Amaravati and Andhra Pradesh. Throughout the state people are protesting against government’s decision. The government is arresting everyone. It’s bad for democracy.”
JanaSena party chief Pawan Kalyan said, YS Jagan Reddy when he was in opposition agreed to the proposal in the assembly and 5 crore AP people witnessed it. Now, he’s changing decision because YCP leaders have bought hundred of acres of land around Vizag.
Now the questions that need to be answered are Why Jagan Reddy agreed to Amaravati as the capital when he was in opposition?
Why he didn’t raise his voice against Amaravati if he felt that the proposed capital needs lakhs of crores of rupees?
And why he didn’t mention in the election manifesto if that was his intention?
