Environmental Activists Demand to move AP Capital City by 20 km

Andhra Pradesh government, which has already been facing number of issues related to capital city Amaravati, has found new enemies in the form of environmental activists led by Bolisetti Satyanarayana.

The green activists are now demanding the AP government to shift the present site of Amaravati by at least 20 km to stop massive destruction of ecology.

The environmental activists said that, to construct the capital city, the State Government must get clearance from the Ministry of Environment & Forests (MoEF) in New Delhi but not from the local environment impact assessment authority.

The green activists also alleged that the state government has blatantly cheated public by saying that Singapore government had prepared the master plan of capital city for free.

However, a RTI reply from the CRDA revealed that the state government paid Rs 11.92 Crore to prepare the master plan for 217 Sq km capital city.

The activists demanded for CBI probe into this Rs 11.92 Crore transaction.
